MS Excel 2003 question

Tried googling to no avail.

What I have is a Row of different names, some repeating more than others. I need to find out on this row whose name repeats the most, specifically the top 10 names.

I tried making a chart, but I believe it seems wanting me to compare data.

Thank.

Doesn't look like I can send attachments via PM. I did it manually, but it would be nice to reference something to double check. I really think this spreadsheet is jacked up.

I'm not sure if a pivot table or a chart would be better.

There are two tabs, seperate data that needs to stay seperated if that makes sense.

Here is what I got manually.

TOP 10 NA (tie at end)
1 Annette Ernst 15
2 Ryan A Johnson 14
3 Erin Hines 13
4 Mark Williamson 11
5 Cari Kaemmerer 10
6 Patti Schwartz 8
7 Ernie Cardenzana 7
8 Gerrick Abad 7
9 Dustin Siemers 6
10 a Jeanette Bedell 6
b Kim Mund 6
c Louis D'Orazio 6
d Michelle Rigsby 6

TOP 10 EMEA (tie at end)
` Miloslav Simko 12
2 Erik Liedtke 11
3 Geoff Smith 11
4 Emma Marklove 10
5 Lynne O'Shaughnessy 10
6 Marcus Reichard 8
7 Beatrice Gasser 6
8 Lluis Serratosa Elias 6
9 Trudy Hillier 6
10 a Alena Svatonova / Arron Jones 5
b Corey Higham 5
c Dean F Nulty 5
d Emilian Hoyer 5
e Remo Fasano 5

Anytime you have a list of things like that you can just click Data at the top and then Sort and sort it all in descending order. It will alphabetize it all and you can count how many times each is in there.

That's what I did manually.. i think that data I counted should be correct.

Next is manually running through 1500 tickets and seeing exactly what the issue is. LMAO!!! This is BS

Your data is a little messed up because some of the usernames are spelled similar as well as some of them having an extra character at the end. I can fix it but it will take a few minutes.

Do you have new user names that would be added in often?

I could make an entry form that would make it easier to select the username and add data to the list.

I really appreciate it, but I don't want to waste your time. I should be okay going off the above numbers and I did was AL P advised above.

This is a spreadsheet that multiple people compiled data in, while everyone using their own methods, hence the extra characters and other BS.

Search the help for the Countif function.

Didn't see the spreadsheet. The formula would be something like - =countif(b2:b500,"Annette Ernst")

This would count every time that column B has "Annette Ernst" in it. b2:b500 is the range of criteria that it would be looking in, "Annette Ernst" is what it will be looking for, and couting how many cells that is in.

If this is data that you need to count everyday, let me know and I can throw together a spreadsheet that you can just copy and past into, and it will count everything as soon as you hit enter.

Oooh, I've a new question! Is it possible to make a pie chart from a single row?

I have compiled a row and it explains the type of issue the column states. Ex. Hardware, Software, Security, Email, DBA, etc, etc.

I am using the same keywords. Is there a way to make a pie chart from the data to show percentages? Hmm

Is this what you are talking about?

If so, you can have the data from your other page feed into these numbers in column B

Yes, that is exactly what I needed! Seems I'm a bit rusty these days with Excel.

I ended up making another tab for the data to feed the charts. Worked like a charm!

I want to thank you for helpin' me out.
