Little help please...

Robin's new laptop works perfectly on my wireless network here at my house, but can't hook up over at her home.
Computer sees the network over there, signal strength is excellent, our other laptop works perfectly over there... this one just can't seem to hook up.

This is an HP notebook with Vista I'm dealing with.

any ideas or tips would really be appreciated.

What router are you using? What wireless card is in the laptop (if you don't know, post up the model of the laptop). Could be some incompatability with the wireless nic and the router. Try going to HP's website and looking to see if there are updated drivers for the wireless card, same for the router, might have a new BIOS upgrade.

When you say can't hook up, what does it do? Does it connect but not allow you to browse the internet? Does it not connect at all? Any errors? Does the other laptop have Vista as well?

Hold in the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds while powered on...then reboot the laptop.

David, is the router using WEP authentication?

It's probably a security issue. Either encryption is on and she doesn't have the key, or MAC filtering is on. Quick fix though if you figure it out. Let us know.

Both her house & mine are using the same standard Cisco Systems wireless routers...

I don't understand why it works perfectly over here and nada at her house. I'll gather up some more info and post up what I have.

Thanks for the help so far.
