Thumbs down Think my Soundcard is dying

I have a logitech 5.1 surround sound system, well I'll get static here & there when listening to anything. Also, while listening to mp3s or whatever if I'm online searching sites, etc it gets static as well.
Does this mean my soundcard sucks ass pretty much? It's the base one that came with my CPU.
If I wanted to upgrade what would be a good one to choose, dependability is a huge deal to me. Like to spend about $50-75 at the most.
Also, is switching out your soundcard hard, I've never messed with it?

Thanks

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

...

Is it an onboard soundcard? Every one I've had has noise issues.

If the pc is a pre-built it's likely on board audio so the install will be very easy.

Ah I see, yes it's an HP, Onboard card. Anyone in particular you'd recommend over the others?

Anything Creative or Sound Blaster is gonna be good, you just need to know what kinda slot you're gonna be usin' to get the right one.

this can be caused by interference on the pci bus, or adjacent cards. Try moving it away from other cards in the case.
