X-Box 360 - Storing games on the hard drive

I thought I read something about being able to store a 360 game on the hard drive. Anyone ever done this? I can't figure it out.

You need to have the updated console to do it. honestly there's not much benifit. you still need the disc in to play. it only make the xbox quieter

It will make certain games load faster under certain situations. Not a big deal...

my son was having problems with a game getting hung up at a certain point. I was hoping maybe this will cure the problem. It's saving now so we'll see. Thanks for the help.

I like it but only problem is you better have a big hard drive. Games takes up alot of room. I think I only have a 20 gig drive and only have 4 gigs left. And I only have 1 game saved so far and it takes up almost 7 gig. I need to upgrade my hard drive.

I'm not sure this is correct. I could've sworn I've been playing Bioshock off the HDD while having Scene-it in the optical drive.

Go to "My Xbox" tab and the first screen is where it shows you what is in the DVD drive. Press "Y" and it will ask if you want to load it on the hard drive. The advantages are pretty great IMO. There is no loud ass DVD drive going, the screens load alot quicker and if you have issues with some games locking up like my buddy did with one game you this will allow you to play without freezing up.

I loaded Fable 2 and it took 6 gigs I believe so if you only have a 20 gig then plan on 1 game at a time if you have any amount of content loaded on the drive already. Also you still need to have the game in the tray to play it. I guess its an anti-piracy thing.

I watched X-play and they had loaded several games to the xbox to see the benefit they only saw a couple tenths off in load times probably not worth it until games are better designed to make use of it. When I put in my Halo 3 after the update it said it would run worse if downloaded with slower times.

that's the problem I'm havin - games are freezing up. After loading a game on the hard drive it still hangs up. I have the 60 gig hard drive so it shouldn't be a problem loading a couple of ames at a time. How prevalent is the game freezing up?

well I've heard the same as Lason said. That they require it as a proof of ownership kinda thing. so people don't use gamefly to acquire new games and stuff like that

I just packed it up (after a 40 minute phone call to Xbox) and exchanged it. Everything seems fine with the new console
