It might be hard for you to swallow that pill, but there are lots of 4 bangers that run 13s and better. SRT-4 Neons, Cobalt SS's, Saturn Sky Redline's and Evo's do it all the time.

what you need is the name and model of the motherboard so you can look it up and find out what processors will work in it.

Its a socket 478 CPU. goto newegg.com or whoever you prefer and buy a CPU that is the same as you have, or a Pentium 4 2.8GHz and 99% it will work. If you want to be sure, you can check your manual for compatible CPUs, but socket 478 CPUs are all but extinct. Only one at newegg.com is listed below and it will not work. good luck, but it may be upgrade time

while I would agree that it might be upgrade time and they are old.....there is no reason to scrap the computer if everything still works. Ebay my friend.

what all can be swapped over from the old one to a NEW motherboard if i shall.. i wouldnt mind grading this one to a different board since this is the one for my room and i could then get the chip and put this board in the garage on the POS compter with win 95

Chances are the only parts you will be able to re-use are the drives. The video card slot is probably AGP and the new standard is PCI X. Memory is much more advanced (but luckily cheaper) now. You can build a new PC but for 95% of the users out there it is cheaper and easier to buy an OEM (Dell, HP, etc) desktop. Think about what you use the PC for and buy accordingly. Don't buy some massive superpowered box if all you do is internet stuff (youtube, email, web browsing).

I'll give you my P4 2.4Ghz HT that will overclock and run rock solid at 3.2GHz if you want it.
