That's weird, can you try hooking it up to an external monitor and see if you can see something then?

You can always burn it and get another one. They're so damn cheap these days anyway.

you may be able to have the info copied from the hard drive onto your new computer. I know some places do that

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

Go to Frys and get yourself an enclosure for a laptop HDD (2.5") and put it in there. You'll be able to hook it up to the other laptop and get your stuff provided the drive is ok. Sounds to me like the OS is hosed.

Enclosures

*THIS IS PRIORITY ONE*You'd be wise to get your info off and on another media type (flash drive, dvd...) in the event the drive IS bad. That's just cheap insurance. Afterwards, the drive can be checked and if the OS is bad, it can be formatted and reinstalled.
You said you heard a clicking noise when you try and boot correct?

OK, for clarification, are you talkin about the HDD or the CD-Rom? Both have lights. Is the light you see blinking the one I circled in red on the picture?

The caps light blinks first like 9 times the the one you circle blinks once then it dies. If you open the cd and try to turn it on again the one you circle stays one while the caps light blinks 9 times then it dies.

For your sake, I wouldn't power that thing up anymore till you have the drive in an enclosure and getting your info off it.

No problem, I enjoy trying to help.
I would put the in the enclosure and go to My Computer and click on the drive and browse> copy/paste the info to the desktop of the host puter. If that doesn't work, read and try this. If neither work, these ppl are standup and here in Texas. They have a no recover-no pay policy.

If you need more help, lemme know or if Hunt logs in he might have more ideas.

What kinda laptop is this? If you can find a similar model you could try installing your hard-drive in a known good computer and see if it boots.

Good deal. Now that you have your info off of it and it's safe, you can try formatting and reinstalling on that same drive or get another and f/r on it and have back at it.
