Windows XP sound problem

Hey guys I can usually figure my cpu problems out on my own but this one has me stumped! So I got a computer up and working down at the shop... The sound works perfectly in windows media player, winamp, itunes, etc... But when I try to play any video clips off the internet, the stupid sound doesnt work. What the hell is the problem? I'm using the RealTek AC 97', with VIA audio controller, ALC658 codec, and DirectX 9.0. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. I'm ready to throw this stupid thing out the door or maybe use my new air hammer on it.

Haha damn. Actually I ended up fixing it... For anyone with this similiar problem here is how you fix it:

Run the K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool. Near the top you should see an option to fix the sound (Midi, WaveOut). Select that and press Next. If the option is greyed out, then that particular registry fix is not needed.

You can find the K-lite codec Tweak Tool here: http://www.codecguide.com/download_o...codectweaktool
