hmmmm i'm liking what I see. Right now I'm paying about $23 a month to rent 1 movie in store or game at blockbuster. I think I just might be switching over. I have had netflix before. but i got rid of it due to blockbuster offer some good deals that they don't offer anymore. and boy do i love watching movies.

Interface is a lil cooler looking and way more functional.

Not gonna setup netflix tonight, I did see a option to "install game to HD" gonna have to try that out probably help with load times.

Edit:

Fallout 3 seems to load faster in some situations and what I was finally hoping for appears to be true you can now chat in a "party" so basically a private chat room which would be waayy better then public ones. But I can't test that because nobody is on to try it... :P

Mp3 player (hooked up to my computer network) is much easier to use, and getting into the dashboard in the middle of a game isn't as much of a task as it was before.

Yes but you still need to have the actual game present in the drive to work.

Just started watching some netflix movies, pretty nice if you ask me no more dvds needed, you just have to add them to your cue on netflix and they appear on your xbox, and quality is great as well.

When you copy the game to the HD does it spin the disc at all? That DVD drive is noisy as hell i just want to copy games to the HD so I can hear what I am playing without cranking up the volume.

Wow, this actually sounds pretty neat. I just dropped HBO, Cinemax, and one other from my Dish, saving me 30 bucks a month.

This could be a nice feature to add.

So you just pick a movie you want to watch and from there you are able to stream it?

Installing the games onto your HD makes it way better. I've been doing it for a week and it helps when you get the no read error on your disc because your drive is going out.

There are only 5500 or so instant videos/movies on xbox. 12500 or so instant on the computer. Who knows how many you can get by dvd and only DVD.

I tried that netflix free trial about 3 years ago and didn't like it. I mean, I can get my free rentals right now through the mail and switch them out free at the actual blockbuster store on the corner. if I was with netflix there's no switching out that minute for free. I'd have to send off and wait to get one back. talk about a waste of time and money.

and that being said about free movies....what's the max number of free movies you can get from this netflix for $20 per month? right now I can do about 3 per week online, and then 4 in store.

The update is definitely better than the old dashboard. The avatars aren't as cool as I'd hoped. They'll probably add more features eventually. All in all, I'm happy with it. I think it only took like 7 minutes to download and install.

Yeah, and if you have a good credit card, once the movie/game is two weeks late, they charge your card. Given, you have two weeks, more than ample time to return the video...there's a late fee. A god damned hefty one.

That and the block buster selection sucks to the netflix selection...

I think netflix needs to step it up and upload all new releases for the monthly fee they are charging now, or hell I would even pay a little more for that option. Browsing the titles avail. for instant view was a little disappointing; but I am sure it will get better. Hell XBOX's own video marketplace had more new release avail for download, but with a small charge. My wife signed us up to host an XBOX/Netflix kickoff party on saturday, and I think I am going to download a HD movie from the marketplace instead of streaming one from the netflix section. Don't get me wrong, it streams video just fine over our fiber connection; I just like the selection on the marketplace better right now.

Service so far has been ok. Pick the movies online and then go to the theater room and bring up the xbox and navigate to the netflix streaming and watch the movies in the Q'. I am just hoping they can get a better movie line up and more new release. Otherwise it looks like I will go the VUDU route for my online movie rentals.

Soooo....for people who have Gold memberships...

1. What are the advantages? I mean, real advantages not the marketing crap. That does not tell you anything.
-I'm specifically interested in online play - for like real life parties. I remember in a demo, they inidcated there would be like online gameshows and crap.
-Anything else besides netflix?

2. How does netflix compare with the xbox marketplace?
-Interface
-Quality
