Trackballs

My Razor mouse is already acting up after a year of use

So I've brought up the idea of a trackball. I've never used one, and I need to know the ups and downs of them, please. How easy is it for gaming (which I do a lot of) and how hard is it for everyday use?

Thanks

They are awful. Just terrible. Much less accurate because of the muscles recruited in using one.

Bought one and tried it for a day, jeez it was just way too different. I suppose someone could make the transition after practicing with one for a few weeks, but I couldn't do it.

i personally love the track ball type mice. my buddy had one on his computer and once i got used to it i perfered it over a conventional mouse. the only ones that are good for gaming are the ones that have the ball located by the thumb on the right hand. they ones with the ball in the middle are garbage.

I loved it when I got used to it, but haven't used one for years...

Accuracy does not decline when you practice with it for a day or so. I never used it for gaming however.

Just bought a microsoft Arc for my baby laptop - wireless, optical, and it folds up pretty small.

I just gave in and bought another Razor. I really like them...good quality, real comfortable, and 4,000 DPI setting. Hopefully it doesn't crap out on me again.

i use a mouse at work. and a trackball wireless at home.. imo i HATE using a mouse now. that being said. the trackballs with the BIG ball you rest your palm on = the suck..

If my memory serves me the microsoft habu has a razer laser in it. And the DPI is selectable with a button on the mouse from 400, 800, 1600, and 2000 DPI. Anything higher and its just uncontrollable. I love mine.
