WoW: WotLK

Just curious who all is getting it this week.

I've already arranged for Friday off. (comp time not PTO) I'm not really excited, but it'll be worth playing I'm sure and I'd like to test out the Death Knight as well.

Never heard of wow fusion and I play alliance on Korgath and horde on draka. If I'm on all the time it means I'm botting

Not sure I see the point in wowfusion.

I play Horde only at this time on Rexxar.

Got nailed once for bot'ing. They banned my bot account AND my main account (that was played, not bot'ed), fuckers. What app you using for botting ACid? Just curious - *I* won't risk it again.

I'm really leaning towards finding a private server to play on.

Played BC for about a year and it just takes up too much damn time to stay ahead of the gear curve.

Whip out the rogues and mages - Arcane mage is a lot of fun to play right now. You're squishy as hell, but can do some major damage fast. Slow gives you some survivability, but you still gotta be careful. Sucks for raiding so far though.

I hear yall on the time sink. I killed my account for awhile, but with the expansion and winter coming up I fired up the accounts again.

Looking forward to the expansion and checking out the Blood Knights.

Geez man, I just dont get the WoW hype. The game looks gay as shit... Im just not a big fan of "fantasy" games... If I play anything, its stuff that is actually somewhat realistic... (MSFS, COD). Just dont get it...

Arcane mage Ret Pally is retarded in 2's arenas right now.

i'm willing to bet they get a decent nerf when 80. i don't think they want to right now too much because supposedly everything will be more balanced at 80, but i hear from some PTR people that ret pallies still need it.

season 5 starts december 18th i think it is.

yeah. unfortunately for him pretty much all we do is PvP, and hunters aren't the best class for that. his priest is 69 though so hopefully he'll make that his main if we keep playing live instead of going private server.

My account expired last Saturday and I won't be renewing or playing the expansion.

I raided for a while but mostly played PVP. Problem is, they've ruined PVP with their nonsense of late. My biggest problem with arena and PVP in general is that it all revolves around very overpowered cooldowns that remove control of your character. Instead of crafting a solution, they gave everyone more cooldowns in the 3.0 patch, making the problem worse. The problem is even more pronounced in arenas. The good PVP gear in WotLK will require arena rankings and points to get. I have long considered arena to be ill-conceived and the absolute worst part of the game and refuse to play it. I voted with my feet and cancelled like a lot of other people.

The uproar was so bad that the head designer Kalgan even came out and posted on the website that they didn't intend for arena to become the end all determining factor for PVP gear. He even went on to say that they are going to come up with some sort of ranking system for Battleground play. That all sounds fantastic and everything but I'm not paying $15 a month to wait until they get their heads our of their asses over there. It seems that in their quest to make sure they had WotLK done around the time Warhammer was released that they really dropped the ball on quality control.

Having heals in PVP makes it a lot more fun. People always psting me wanting me to be their healbot. lolz

I run around with my roommates ret pally and I just keep him alive. It's pretty fun

Bring the ally over to Hyjal... or hell we've been thinking about going to a pvp server.

well thats the problem.

We're on Kirin Tor which is an RP server. didn't realize what we were doing at the time just joined to play with a couple other friends. both of which aren't playing now lol.

so we have been looking to transfer. We have done a lot of World PvP on the server and created THE PvP guild downing all the opposing faction leaders, putting together 10v10's, duel tourny's, etc.

i see a lot of the people that are transfering to PvP servers come back because they cry about being ganked all the time and what not.

just not sure what i want to do when expansion comes out. stay put, transfer to PvP, play private servers, etc.

Al P, the problem occurred when they sold out to vivendi and have share holders to answer for, what this accomplished is giving people easy way to get good gear quickly and with people sponsor WoW arena events they are starting to cater towards that shit since it brings in even more revenue. Arena's are bullshit, a 2v2 match shouldn't last 5 minutes, much less 20-30 minutes like some of the games I was in when pushing for gladiator, the only thing that's fun is 5v5, but there is so few teams queue times are horsecock in tiny mouth. I've spent 4 hours raiding a night and have had more enjoyment than i ever had playing arenas which is just sad. I PLAY ARENAS FOR TITLES is pretty much what it came down to.

dumbed down the fights? lmfao

We were one of the first 200 guilds in the WORLD to see muru die prenerf, and even still after the 'dumb down version that lasted less than 4 weeks because the next expansion was coming out' less than 600 guilds have seen it now, which would be roughly 18,000 raiders out of 11,000,000 players. Yeah its so dumbed down.

Indeed, once a company goes public it is all about growing revenue. For Wow that means they have to have an ever expanding fanbase. They have attempted to do that by going after the FPS crowd and you can see it in the game design. Personally, I loathe FPS games so it really doesn't appeal to me. I can't really stand those types of games because they revolve around killing someone in a very short time frame and having quick respawns to do it all over again. How many times can you kill the same person or have them kill you? You see this in the game design because the various abilities are absolutely deadly and the only way they are reigned in are via the cooldown times. For me that adds up to a very lame experience.

When you factor in the overall lameness of arena, with the various unbalanced match ups it becomes that much more pronounced. The reason why you are seeing so much increase in 5v5 que times is that the participation in the current season has dropped around ~50%. Blizz doesn't release statistics for the number of arena matches played of course but if you go to the more enlightened sites on the net that encourage intelligent discussion (IE not the Wow forums) the consensus seems to be that a 50% decrease is about right. The reason is the requirements on gear. The arena system is a zero sum system (outside of the team re-creation effect) so someone has to lose in order for teams to gain rank. With the rating requirements those people have gone away. Yet still, Blizz insists on trying to ram the arena system down everyone's throat to promote this FPS mentality and have the game be some sort of e-sport, doing it at the cost of other parts of the game.

Yeah its so dumbed down.

They reduced the health of 25 man raid bosses by 30% in a recent patch.

As for the arena rating, that sounds like a great idea until you realize that the rating system collapses from a lack of participation. I know people who stayed around 1850 rating in seasons 1 and 2 that can't bust into the 1700s of late. That's because there simply aren't enough participants at the bottom of the ladder.

The 2200 requirement for shoulder pieces sounds good too until you realize that you will be able to count the number of people who get those in a given battle group on one hand. And those people will be playing the currently overpowered classes that are flavors of the month.

A smartly executed PVP gearing system would be one in which the gear requires fewer points to buy as your rating goes up. It should also get cheaper as the season goes on to ensure that it is obsolete. This allows people that play crappy classes/specs to still participate at some level. The current system is great for people who play the classes that dominate and also great for the simple minded elitist mentality of the many 12 year olds who play the game. Beyond that it is worthless. It is also counterproductive to growing the player base.

I thought they nerfed all raids. Kara seemed super easy, but maybe that was only due to the new talents.

I like raiding, but I hate being online at a specific time... I like playing when I get the urge. Then again PVPing all day feels like a job. Back to my 19 twink for shits and giggles I guess!

I'm not saying I'm a great player...

A friend and I (2 mages) used to rock arenas pretty well. We recently started that whole process again and are getting our asses handed to us. That's with use "iwin" macros, that crit - resilience is through the roof on some people. When 2 mages nail you for 5K+ and than do every instant cast they got and you're still not down - that's just strange.

In some cases we just get out played or f'up, but when we execute and can't down that first person in 2v2 we're screwed. Sheeping is worthless with trinkets these days and stuff.

Kara is super easy because dps went up across the board. Probably on order of 15% for everyone.

It is kind of another issue I have with the game. The new talent trees threw everything way off. I have a mage with 430 resilience and got crit by a boomkin the other day for 5100 damage. That was one of those moments where I realized I was just wasting my time with the game and had better things to do. If they don't have time to playtest and see that crap like that is a little out of hand then I'm not paying them $15 a month.

Pretty sure he isn't referring to the top 1% content users, more like the issues of the "middle of the road" shit (attunements being removed, rep for heroic keys being lowered, hell even the quests for the epic pally/warlock mount being removed) that people actually worked for early only to see it basically give away.

I actually stopped playing WoW at the beginning of the year, then my brother talked me into starting on his server (Suramar) and it was a mistake. I leveled a be pally to 70 in about 14 days, was a pita to do it that quick without help, and that server sucks ass for people just starting.

Wife talked me into not leaving again, so we have been playing on Llane again. Only reason I am still playing is because of being in a good guild with cool people in it (adults, not children). Otherwise, I wouldn't be buying the expansion.
