PC Repair needed ...

Shortly after moving to my new house a few months back, my PC crashed on me.

I was just listening to music and it shut down. It would then restart, shut down, restart - pretty much just act frickin goofy. So I removed the add-on's to see how it acted. Still wasn't normal.

Got to talking to a friend of mine and he figured it might be the power supply or mobo, so I purchased new ones and finally got off my butt to install them today.

Good news is the PC will fire up, no blue screen of death...... Actually. No screen at all. The mobo I bought doesn't have an onboard video so I was using my ATI 850 (little on the couple years old side) . I thought that maybe that kicked the bucket so I went to Fry's and picked up a new video card.

Still no dice.

Since I have no idea what I'm really doing - does anyone have any pointers?

I have to get some info off one of my hard drives ASAP. I can pay in case(s) of beer

Can you see the screen in BIOS? Then it boots into windows and your screen goes blank? If so, missing or bad drivers. Reboot and enable VGA mode, install GPU drivers.

Did you do a fresh install of Windows with the new Mobo? Ive never had any luck swaping motherboards without formating and re-installing windows and all the new drivers.

If you need your info off the old drive, put it in another puter and get the info off that you need. That'll get ya by till someone can get it working correctly.

Listen to my buddy, Jeff Bolton, from 6-9 AM Mon-Fri.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

Screen doesn't come up at all....... If I unplug it, it goes to some red/green/blue barred "test mode". As soon as I plug it into the video card, it shuts down.

Orange light on the power switch like it's not getting any signal at all from the pc.
