Do you know what video card slot your PC has available (AGP or PCIe16X)?

Thats most likely because you don't know the drivers that well, NVIDIA is not all it's cracked up to be, I would totally go with ATI anyday! I have the ATI 3870 X2, it's a dual gpu video card, and this SOB is hot shit. It's like having a video card with a huge ass blower on it! But yes the 4870 is better than mine

What resolution? 1920x1200? Are you playing games? And when you say will play HD do you mean play BR/HD rips or BR/HD dvds?

my 3870 X2 runs at 1900x1200, and I usually run about 90-120 FPS in COD4

What drivers do I need to know? All I should have to know is the one that came with it and the updates that come out on there website. I have also used the 3rd party drivers.

Yes but did you know that you need to delete some old drivers when installing new ones. I am just saying that my card hasn't given me any problems at all, and I have a few people I know that have them as well. The truth is NVIDIA has there name established so they don't need to produce a badass product, on the other hand ATI fell off the last 5 years and now they are shining. You can get what you want but I speak from pure experience.

What old ones, are you talking about when the drivers that they said I need update made my computer never run the same again? I can't even run a different OS and play a 3d game, or my computer crashes. LINKY
As do I.

Recommend you check out...

maximumpc.com, their articles and even the pdf form of their magazines. They review these things quite often and I find them fairly spot on.

I've personally never had any real problems with either Nvidia or ATI, I'd buy either anytime of the days. That's via 11-12 laptops and 5-6 desktops over the last 10 years. Not inclduing workstations at the office.

Take care,

My '03 Sold.
