Question for the Linux Gurus.

Playing around with Ubuntu 8.0.4 and whenever I try to partition or format (Gparted) my SATA HD Ubuntu locks up. It has been a long time since I used this drive so I am not completely confident that it is good. What can I use to check it?

Figured it out. I did it from a terminal window.

mkfs -t ext3 /device was the ticket

I tried that and it reported that it was good which is odd because it locked up during partition. Oh well it is working now. I am really liking having a nix box around the house again.

Post up a pic of your GUI when you get it set up. You using bash? Oh, and welcome back Luke.
