If you unlock it you can use swirlymms, or you can wait to see if apple excepts it in to the appstore.

app store will never accept an mms app. unless you unlock and use a program to mask your imei (not legal so don't do it anyway) AT&T makes checks on accounts and any iPhone plan has mms disabled

ok, i had to post that from my iphone so i figured id explain a little better when i got home from work. iPhone data plans automatically have shut off MMS. AT&T also does IMEI checks on accounts approximately every 48 hours, when they detect an iphone IMEI it makes sure that MMS text packages are shut off on your line. Yes, you can jailbreak your iphone (big difference between jailbreak and unlock) and install swirlymms BUT if your on AT&T service it will NOT work. If its an older iphone, people have been known to use a program like ziphone and mask their IMEI with that of an old motorola phone they had or something that would allow MMS, then they would get the package turned on with their service and use a program like swirlymms to have MMs. unfortunately this isnt possible yet with a 3g phone on at&t because they havent had an unlock solution yet. There are some sim-hack devices that have had success in unlocking a 3g but its a shady deal to most. but to mention again, masking the IMEI of a cell phone is a big no no.

i thought the 3g was supposed to have mms capability. wasn't that one of the big selling/upgrading points?

3g as a network is more than capable of mms... the iphone 3g..nope... it boils down to steve jobs believes the mms system all together is outdated and that the email system is a much more capable mobile picture delivery system. its something that is hoped to be provided at some point but as of right now...nope...

now you can still send someone a pic to their text system, you just have to email it to [email protected] (their phone number @ whatever the carrier is .com)

and they can send a pic to your email...

I know I'm digging this back up, but figured it would be better than making a new thread.

Has anyone as of yet found a way to use the iphone on attachments?

Sometimes I recieve emails with attachments (ie: Excel, Word, Zip, etc.)

I don't have internet on my home computer, but would like to be able to save the attachment to my iphone, hook it to the computer and copy paste the attachment to my computer (iregardless if the iphone recognizes it) (sort of like a flash drive using email).

Used my flash drive to download the itunes installer from work and then installed it on my home computer.
