To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Cinematic's are always badass, the new WoTLK opening cinema is fucking PIMP and so this is one!

But like its been said, only a ripple to Blizzard's WoW community only this time I think WAR will actually give it some competition (not much).

buzz is this is supposed to be the biggest threat to WOW yet. Besides, reports show WOW subcribers are falling off.

If the people are really doing what they're saying in the forums (cancelling/pre-ordering) than yeah this is a decent hit to blizzard's subscription.

I'd like to know subscribers that War gets in the first month, that should be interesting...

Anyone jumping ship?

I'm a general Warhammer fan and quit WoW several months ago. I'm looking for something new and exciting. I'll probably try it - especially if there is a free trial period or something.

+1

I quit wow after only playing it for about 3 months. Just wasn't worth it. Outdated appearance, and got sick of hearing it every single day from people at work.

Not to mention i got the joy of seeing some of the "hardcore players" at work, and decided i'd rather not be associated with them. I will freely admit that i'm a dork, but i don't know what to call them.

Between one having to talk about it every single day for over a year straight (thank god he got fired), and the other having to tell everyone how "he was a gamer, he told his gf that, and if she didn't like it she could leave . . . . and did" stories, i figured it might be best to step away from the game.

haha...well I recruited my wife and she was cool with it. However...

-Homeowners have work to do around the house all the time and I'm a homeowner
-My "guild" got tired of it...so I was pug'ing and solo'ing everything.
-Dailies are just that and get real old after a month
-To compete, the gear is way up there and I don't have that kind of time for raids
-Mages (at least as of 3-4 months ago) were overall poor PVP'ers and out DPS'ed by many other classes. I like playing a mage and won't relevel ANOTHER character just to DPS w/ some CC
-Even if I did raid, I'd imagine it would get old.

Plus the stuff you mentioned.

I loved the Warcraft rts games, but the mmorpg just doesn't do it for me. The only one that's managed to really pull me in was Anarchy Online.

I've been eyeballing Eve lately, and think i might try the free trial for that. A space mmo seems more up my alley.

Open beta starts September 7th.

In my opinion this is the biggest competitor to WOW that has been launched to date. The setting behind the game has incredible depth and detail since it has been developed over the last 25 years. One of the strong points of the game is supposedly the PVP system. In WOW the PVP system has devolved into almost a rock-paper-scissors sort of gimmick-laden nonsense where certain classes/specs are just plain terrible and have no chance. What is amazing is that blizzard, while doing things to fix the underpowered classes/specs has done almost nothing to reduce the power of the overpowered classes/specs.

Of course, now that the Warhammer Online game is finally being released Blizzard is going to make a patch for Wow that fixes a lot of the fundamental problems that people have been bitching about and also adds some new features. It figures. I hope the Warhammer does very very well even if I don't like the game. Mainly because competition is good and Wow needs an injection of quality that the long haired hippie programmer fucks can't seem to conjure up unless they are under the lash of their publicly traded masters (Vivendi) whose greatest fear is loss of income.

I did the Eve trial recently.

The game is very complicated and has a steep learning curve. It is also very unforgiving, if you lose in PVP your ship is destroyed and once it is gone, it is gone. You can get an insurance policy on it but that is it.

On the plus side it is very open ended and supposedly there are massive fleet battles with tons of players. The interface is also really nice.

That cinematic was absolutely stunning!

I find WOW boring as shit now. EQ2 is somewhat fun. I miss the fun days of EQ1.

I may have to check this one out.

at least its not a SOE (sony online entertainment) game Their track record for MMO's is kinda poor

I would give the game a chance, but I'm worried that a lot of people will give up on it in the first couple of months when there are bugs/server issues still being resolved. People have grown accustom to Blizzards' commitment to wow.

Is a really good MMO. Its hard to start now, as no matter how much you play or how much effort you put into it, you're going to "level" at the same rate as everyone else. Its also hard to get into if you dont know anyone. With that said its probably one of the best MMO's.

VERY slow start. I'm still trying to get into it, but labor day weekend was more consumed with alcohol than gaming.
With Infinite Undiscovery coming out tomorrow, i think i may have picked a bad time to start the EVE trial.

Other than that, i like it. I only did one quick mission before hauling ass and buying my first frigate.

Fuck WOW... 10 more levels, then re-grinding epics... no thanks. I'm not playing after the expansion comes out.

Might give this a shot.
