Xbox 360 repair

Well I bought a 360 premium unit from a dude on here back in April (I think) and it would never connect to the network - always said "network interface disconnected" So I finally decided to call the other day with mere hopes of them walking me through some tech support over the phone and maybe fixing it. I didn't expect much because this is an older unit I believe...it is pre-HDMI. Well he asked the usual stupid questions and I answered then read him off the serial number, he came back with it looks to have never been registered, so I will send you a repair ticket. Well I got the ticket in my email the next day and sent it off the day after that...that was last Thursday...BOOM Tuesday this week and I just got a replacement delivered from UPS. Works like a charm. That is some fast shit and they really took care of me on a great deal I got in the first place.

and they threw in a free month of LIVE also..

Sooo.. Big WOOT to Microsoft for taking care of their customers.

Hopefully this one doesn't crap out on you as well. I have a friend at work that is on his 3rd Xbox and will have to send this one back as well as they all have died within a month of each other.

that's badass - too bad they didn't send you a replacement with HDMI. I had mine fixed a couple years ago and it's worked like clockwork since. That's the only reason I haven't upgraded to a newer model

Yep, and they kept giving him free Xbox Live for a month. This last time around I think he got it free for a year.

a buddy of mine had the ring of death or w/e the overheating thing is and decided to go buy a new one rather than fix his. after he gave me the old 360 I called microsoft, registered it, and sent it in for warranty work. it's always nice getting a free consol!

Ok I typed my previous post on 8/6, and this Saturday i got my 2nd RROD. How ironic. Well i did the towel trick and it's working again, hopefully it'll break again soon so I can send it off to the repair center in a broken condition. Good thing is that the repair center is in Mesquite now so the turnaround time should be a lot better.

My understanding is that it's a temporary fix. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have messed with it because it's actually working again, which completely defeats the purpose of calling MS to begin with. I've got 20 days for it to break again, which it most likely will. As long as they give me a replacement i'll be happy. But I finally made a break in Castlevania: SOTN and I didn't wanna stop playing lol

Im on my 3rd xbox and about to send this one in. First 2 had red rings, now almost a year of luck and the damn thing is giving me a green screen

No big deal, microcrap has taken care of my defects in the past on this thing so they should this time as well. Just sucks I have to keep sending it back in.

Tell that to the ps3 brethren STILL have BDL problems.

No electronic device is free of failure.

Maybe. Last time I sent mine to McAllen too. Maybe this time it's a trick and i'm really sending it to the Microsoft guy I talked to ("Joe's") U.S. address. On a similar topic, I had to call NissanUSA and spoke to a "Leslie Jose" yeah friggin right....Leslie my ass

McAllen is by the US-Mexico Border. Nowhere NEAR Mesquite. Just messing with ya. I had to send in my 360 a bit ago and even though I live IN FUCKING MCALLEN, it still took a bit to fix. But whatever, at least they're putting the maquilas to good use.

Maquilas > Indian call centers (even though you deal with both when fixing the console).

Regarding Slo3gt:

the thing finally broke again this weekend. I left that thing on overnight for 3 days straight and it worked like a charm. Saturday I play some Castlevania for an hour and half and didn't get a chance to save yet and it finally decides to freeze on me. Well at least it's boxed up and will be on its way to Mesquite after work!
