any reason a USB hub wouldn't work on a PS3?

a couple controllers being charged, an infra-red remote adapter, and a couple of Guitar adapters fill it up pretty quick

I see no reason an independantly powered usb hub wouldn't work.

Well...for power maybe. I can't recall the standard usb power output - but you should compare that to what the PS3 usb power output is.

From researching looks like any should work as long as they are powered, like i originally said.

Like the rock band one... has to have its own power source. Output is too low to power a usb hub and everything attached to it without one.

It works fine, I've been using one for a long time. You can also buy 2 port controller charger for $14 that will charge both usb remotes off of one USB port. I have had this one for about a year and it's worked perfectly.
