H1 Datacenter down.

Is this affecting anyone else? I got 200 clients on my email server there and it has been down since Saturday. WTF. I use to work for The Planet and it was a terrible job.

I read about that on slashdot. Apparently they had a short followed by an explosion that knocked out 3 walls where their UPS is housed. The fire marshall would not let them switch to auxiliary power until the building had been inspected. 9000 servers affected.

Here is a link to the slashdot story, and somewhere in that story is a link to a status blog that is updated by the planet periodically.

I don't blame you, but there IS a flip side.

Assume they can withstand the shit storm that'll come from this, they are going to be 100x more diligent in the future.

Something like this "could" potentially happen to any Datacenter, how they handle it is a different story and I can't give out any details but keep checking the Site for the hourly updates.

Have you seen what a transformer exploding can potentially cause?

I've seen a transformer explode before. Hell, it was at night in Bosnia and lit up the house I was in like it was day time. Pretty cool.
