Approximate Price

My computer has been having problems lately and I was wanting to maybe get it reformatted and only the programs I want put back on. I will back-up the files that I want to keep. I was wondering if anyone on here would do it and if so, how much would it cost me?

Do it yourself. It's easy as long as you have the cds. You running XP? just reformat the HD and do a fresh install and just install the programs you need. Don't pay for what's easy.

ill do it for some beer dude. should take about 1 hr to format and install the new OS. just get the XP cd (or what ever operating system you want) or i can "lend" you a professional edition to install but you cant get any updates. i think XP home is only like $75 now though for a new legit copy.

only think is DONT use the "recovery disk" that came with the PC or your computer will just run like ass again after all the bullshit that is installed with it. you need a new fresh copy of windows

You will however need the recovery disk for your hardware drivers.

have to disagree with that... if you backup all your programs in an organized fashion and on a single CD and get the crucial drivers on a CD (like motherboard, video card, and network card) and you can download everything else. i remember (since i just did it about a month ago) i had my OS, a few games, microsoft office, all main drivers, some torrent programs, spyware/anti virus, and a couple of DJ and production programs in about 3 hours.

even @ 6 hours total i think it would be well worth it.

I agree but I won't do it for beer money. Family I do for free but I've gotten $100 a few times for throwing in new hd, install OS, patch, apps, updates, and optimize. Granted I let it do updates on its own overnight.

I'd do it cheaper but its not my fav thing to do. I'd rather do server/network design or security/risk/pen assessments.

Thanks guys for the replies. I am really stupid when it comes to this stuff and dont even know where to start. I talked to Hunt4mx3 and he is going to do it for me over the weekend.

Right now i have this load error on my screen that wont go away and another problem I am having is that it runs at 100% CPU load the entire time I am on IE. Maybe getting him to reformat it will help with these problems.

Thanks again.

yea i'd do all that for about $100... its alota work... well at least its time consuming. i was just talking about reformatting and installing a fresh OS... lol i wouldnt spend more than an hour screwing with computers for a 12 pack!

good luck with the PC. im sure everything will be fine after fresh programs. sounds like you have a virus/spyware since its taking up all your resources. invest in spydocter and NOD32 to keep that crap from happening again
