By wireless internet what are you trying to get at? Do you just want to use the "wireless" part in your home or do you want your computer always be able to access the internet "wireless". a) purchase an broadband card from your phone service carrier or b) purchase a wireless router and make sure you have a wireless card on your laptop or desktop.

Yeah, you're question is too vague. First you need to check to see who is your provider in your area. Start with that, and post the results.

Are you talking about needing a wireless network card or a wireless router?

Your question is a bit vague.

Who's your wireless carrier? That makes the most sense to me. I've only dealt with Sprint's air cards because of work. Your air card will get service in all the same places that your phone has data service coverage.

I use my Nokia E70 with AT&T (formerly Cingular) with unlimited data for 19.99 a month to access the internet on my laptop OR home computer thru either a bluetooth connection or with a USB cable. My average connection speed is 941kbps which is WAYYY faster than dialup and a hell of a lot more reliable than searching for unlocked wi-fi networks.

FUCK Canada

I would get a new phone with a data plan. I hook up my 6700 to my laptop via bluetooth or usb, and can use it to surf the internet.

That would vary with where you go. On the top of Mt Everest or in the middle of Death Valley the only way you'll get internet is with a directional antenna and a 2 way satellite feed, which will cost you thousands of dollars per hour.

If you are in an area that has wifi coverage then you'll have internet within their service area. If you go with AT&T or even have their higher speed DSL services then anywhere they have wifi you can connect for free (every McDonalds for example). With T-mobile you'll have internet at any Starbucks for free.

Personally I use Verizon but their coverage sucks in Amarillo, works great every where else I've been though.

If you plan on travelling internationally go with a GSM carrier like AT&T.

I found a sprint online deal for a $29 USB air card (after rebate) and $59/month for unlimited use. I went up to the AT&T store and they were not dealing (geez, i've only been a customer forever ); I could not get a break on a better phone so I went with an aircard instead. The deal I got thru them is basically the same as the sprint deal except I have a 5gb data limit, and I had to pay a little more for the card. I probably would have taken the sprint deal except I needed to be online monday morning. It is all a business deduction for me anyway.

Well, AT&T's deal is a little rough. The card itself seems to have some issues.

Sometimes the card "goes away":

Sometimes the CPU spikes to 100% busy:

If you catch it quick enough and eject the card using the stop device thingie on the task bar to stop the air card, the issue goes away:

If you are not fast enough you get an award:

The memory is fine; this machine never blue screens unless the air card is installed.

These events pop up about every 1.5 to 2 hours.

Im going to return this crap saturday and try another service.
