Linux Geniuses, help please.

Alright, running ubuntu 6.06.1

I'm attempting to install a bittorrent client right now, but everytime when I go through and select my directory and then attempt to run the configure (./configure), the system tells me that i don't have 'make' in my path.

The readme that came with the download said to run it as such:

./configure
make && make install
qbittorrent

but no matter how I change the syntax, it always tells me that make is not in my path. anyone know what the fuck I'm doing wrong here?

<----linux newbie, so if there is some glaring issue that I've overlooked here, feel free to make me feel stupid.

there are premade binaries already available... open up synaptic and pic out a bittorrent client and install it.

Isnt this one of the whole points of Ubuntu?

I'd also agree with installing/upgrading to 7.10

No real reason to upgrade, unless 7 has a bittorrent client by default.

Easy way to do it.

Supposedly.

Or you could just fix your path and actually learn something useful. What's your path set to? echo $PATH will usually do it. Does configure find gcc?

And finally:
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”—Author unknown

but they do have a DFWStangs version:
“Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and he will sit in the boat and drink beer all day.”—OldFox
