I like my Vista/Office 2007 machine better than my XP Pro/Office 2002 machine.

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Xp

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

Buy a Mac instead. I made the switch from a PC and I couldn't be happier. There is no learning curve at all. The Mac is very easy to use.

I would say go XP...as it is a hell of allot of fun to go from a new Vista machine back to xp. You dont just reformat and reload.

On Thanksgiving my new Mac laptop turned one year old. I can honestly say I've not had one problem with it. One of the nicest things is that there's no virus protection on it, and it never gets a virus!

Most people will tell you that Macs are just too expensive. I totally agree they are pricey, but in my particular case it was well worth it. I'd say it's a push between paying less for a PC and getting more for your money with a Mac. Plus, with a new Intel based Mac you can run Windows Vista or XP if you want.

I use PC's at work all day, and the Mac at home. I have no trouble switching between the two, or swapping files between the two. I thought it would be a headache using both but it's not.

I'd say go with Vista but make sure you get at least 2 GB RAM. I made the switch middle last year with a new Dell XPS gaming machine and couldn't be happier. About the only problem I've had is my card reading not working right now but I couldn't blame that on Vista.

Now if you could afford it, go with a Mac. It'll be two years this August that I've owned a Mac and I feel it was worth the money. If it wasn't for my video gaming habit I would have bought a new iMac for a Desktop. And the comment about virus's on Mac's, there just not as prevalent. I wouldn't say a Mac is virus free.

What is so great about Windows Vista that everyone is willing to take the chance that their computer will stop working for? I've played with Vista both at work and on other peoples computers and other than the pretty new user interface and shiny new appearance I dont see how its better than XP....in fact I think XP is better because it doesnt require even close to the same resources to function that Vista does. You cant even begin to use Vista unless your computer has at least what 1.5gb of ram? I've gotten XP to work on computers with 128mb of ram. I just cant justify Vista with all of the problems with compatibility that people have had. I'ma stick with XP.

Many new laptops coming out have vista preloaded with no xp drivers availble. My wifes new laptop runs fine with 1gb ram after I took all the crap Toshiba preloaded.

Oddly enough I picked up an extremely nice Acer Aspire 5050 at a pawn shop Friday that had Vista installed from the factory that had all kinds of problems with errors. The guy at the pawn shop couldnt hardly boot it up without it freezing up or going blue screen of death. I explained to him that it needed a complete wipe and reinstall of an OS and he agreed that he could not sell it as it was. Paid 250 out the door with the laptop, power supply, and a bag. Wiped it and reinstalled XP Home SPII and it runs like a champ. 2ghz dual core AMD, 1gig of ram, DVD burner, widescreen, wifi, bluetooth..etc. Nice little computer for 250 bucks. As for newer laptops not having drivers available for XP...do your research and look on the internet before you say that...most of the XP drivers for this laptop that are posted on the Acer website don't work. I just did a search for XP drivers for this specific model and found all of them easily available from various sites.

What programs are you having problems with? You might try running it in Compatibility Mode. Right click the shortcut and left click on Properties and go to the Compatibility tab and select WinXP.

I assume your talking about the drivers? Or the fact that some hardware is only vista compatible?

I'm thinking about going to XP on my new laptop I bought, but I don't think my soundcard has XP drivers. Just a lot more work I guess.
