Video card recommendations

Just wondering what you guys recommend...looking for something to play Call of Duty 4. Hoping to be under $100 and can decode HDDVD/BluRay (h.264) stuff.

Any suggestions? Hell, any recommendations on a mobo/cpu combo under $300 with good onboard graphics to do the same thing?

I would stay away from on board graphics..

I'm using an nvidea 7600 right now and it runs CoD4 with out a problem. I don't run it on ultra, extreme, omfg graphics mode but I don't complain with the way it looks.

My card does give the middle finger to crysis although.

I think you can pick up a 7600 for cheap off newegg.com now.

I run the same card. I don't think you can beat it for the price.

lots of cards can run cod 4, but it all depends on the resolution and the settings you want turned on. I had a 7800gt i was running it with and it did fine, i switched to a 8800gt and it runs o so much better now. My brother has an X800 pro and it runs it well enough to play.

Under $100 and play COD4? You may be able to pull that off with a used card...

I like OMFG graphics, so I got a 8800GTS OC.

I dont care about the high inane amount of detail...Its a 60" plama...cant capture every bit of detail anyways I just want something that will play it fine online.

a 7900 would be a nice card, but I have no idea if one could be had for ~$100.

I got mine new for 160ish earlier in the year but can't say I'd part with it and if I upgrade it will become a hand me down to the kids

do you have pci-e or agp?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150247

i have the egva version of this card and the only thing that sucks is that it is DDR2. Runs crysis on med settings, dod:s and all other hl2 games on max, with a min of 60fps. Its no 8800, but it gets the job done. I also overclocked the core from 540mhz to 650mhz with almost no rise in temp and the mem from 800 to 950mhz. the memory on this one is already higher than that so you should be good.

the Radeon 3850 for around $170 will be the best bet apparently.

almost thinking of ordering a new dell...

AMD x2 5000
1 gig ram
320 gig hd
8600gt vid card
windows vista (scrap that)
22" LCD (re sell on ebay for $200)
and some other stuff for $700 shipped to my door with taxes. Could save another 5% if I use their financing.

good deal from dell. i'm not sure if you have any parts but you can build it too. you will wind up with a few better parts like the ram and mobo and processor.

amd 5000 black edition - 100
2 gigs ddr 2 ram - 75
500 gb sata2 hd - 100
8600gt with the zalman cooling fan and 680 mhz clock rate - 100

you can get a mobo, case, and power supply for about a 125 which will put you at 500
