Help!!!

so i got a new core duo quad from frys and put it in tonight.

i installed the new MoBo and new processor in my old tower but am having some problems.

when ever i power on the computer, it only powers up for about half a second and then shuts off... when i hold down the reset button after pushing the power button, the computer stays on until i release the reset button. at first i thought it was just a wrong wire on the MoBo to my front panel but i am noticing there is nothing on the monitor at all...

Sounds like your old power supply can't handle the new parts.

so how much did you get for your ECS?

what kind of mobo did you get and how much did it cost?

i heard everyone bitching about how shitty the ECS was but just installed it anyways... is it that bad? what problems might i have?

20$ for the mobo, since no one really wants it. ECS is a hit or miss. I wouldn't use it to OC or for gaming.

I ordered the DFI LP LT P35 T2R LGA 775 Intel P35 Intel Motherboard - Retail

199.99 shipped.

oh yea, that OCZ memory at frys runs at 2.1v instead of the normal 1.8v. I did end up getting the E6750 core duo and the abit mobo from black friday along with a 8600GT card.

the mobo would not post because of that memory so i switched to some corsair and it runs just fine.

the double powerup is a "feature" of the bios, and there is an upgrade that takes care of it.

i 2nd the ecs. its not for gaming/hardcore but my kids pc is still running fine off one.

Old Socket 754 AMD 3100 sempron combo I got for like 79 bucks a few years ago. Its the nforce3 chipset and never had any issues with it.

For a 2nd box or server etc they are plenty.

its a SATA harddrive

the only jumpers on it are to change it from the 300 to 150 speed.

change that?
