I have both, and played Medievel 2 a lot more. Its a fairly complex game, and the strat. element is pretty much the same of what you would get from CIV 4, but you get the bonus of tactical battles, which are braveheart-epic in terms of scale.

Very entertaining. Let me know when you want my HRE troops to stomp a mudhole in your army sometime.

Yea well, your HRE troops stand no chance against my................................................ .............HRE troops!!!

(Started a new campaign)

I like Medieval 2. Nothing better than sending your gothic knights to ride down the fleeing peasant militia. Or to blast them with cannons.

I will take a giant sauerkraut crap ontop of your HRE troops faces, Alan. Maybe your General can clean my General's stables when all is said and done.

yep, and its pretty ruthless too.

You determine the "point value" of your game before you fight a tactical battle, as well as the age which you fight.

I had a battle where i had just a few units of knights and a friend had like 20 units of peasants. Pretty funny.
