OSX Leopard....

So has anyone upgraded their Mac yet?

I'm backing up files for a clean install tomorrow. I'm looking forward to putting Time Machine to good use.

Anyone have any problems to report? What new feature have you really fallen for?

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

I did an upgrade on Saturday, but backed up everything just incase I needed a clean install. Probably still will eventually.

So far no problems to report, and it's certainly noticibly snappier. I see a lot of complaints about the menu bar and dock though. Personally they don't bother me, I like them.

Stacks could use some refinement. I like to have my apps and utilities folders on the dock, but the way stacks does icons with the "top most" app as the icon, it can get confusing determining which is which without mousing over and reading the label. I'm working around it by making an alias of the apps folder, renaming it "AAA" and putting it in the apps folder. That puts it at the top of the list, and thus the stack icon. Same with utilities.

I didn't think quicklook and coverflow in the finder would be nearly as useful as they turned out to be in practice. I was browsing network shares with video files, and just using quicklook to watch the video instantly, instead of having to load quicktime or vlc. Good stuff.

Spaces and Time Machine though are the two big things I was really looking forward to. And they do not disappoint. Doesn't work wirelessly yet, but since it was part of the initial announcement, my guess is they really want it working, so expect it to be available after a point release or four.

I haven't had a chance to use the screen sharing in iChat or Finder yet, but I've heard they are a godsend.

I installed it last night. I also upgraded my Macbook pro to a 250GB hard drive.

My disk was an "upgrade" disk, so I ended up taking my old hard drive and putting it into a USB enclosure and connecting it to my notebook. That way the Leopard install disk still saw my laptop as having OSX Tiger already installed. The installation went pretty smoothly after that.

I'll be waiting until I pick up a new Mac (either a new or used Mac Mini) before I decide to upgrade. Glad to hear you guys are doing pretty good on the upgrades.

Well, I've found my first app that isn't compatible with Leopard.

Oh why oh why must I go one without Guitar Pro 5.2. Why couldn't these guys produce a patch before Leopards launch. Ok, I'm just kidding.

That's is a biggie for me since I'm trying to learn some new songs. Apparently the makers of Guitar Pro know about the issue and are working on a patch.
