VHS to .mpg or .wmv?

Is there anything out there that can convert something from a VHS tape to a video file playable on the computer without having it as a huge file? Or is there any company that does this sort of stuff?

You would have to import it onto a computer first I would think......

Moving this to the computer forum.

I did that a while ago with the software that came with my TV video card, it was a Radion card, like an 8500 or something. Then to make it viewable over the net, use Microsoft Movie Maker.

They've done studies you know.... 60% of the time, it works every time

So you hooked up the VHS via the coax input to your video card and inputted it in? I've never done anything like that before so I'm curious.

Sounds like you know what you need to buy now Or of course pay someone to convert your porn collection from VHS to DVD

importing is going to be used unless you have an encoder card that does it on the fly. Once you import it you need to compress it.

I just simply use my Dazzle Video Converter to capture it off the VCR using Windows Media Encoder or Windows Movie Maker.

The quality is fairly decent, but it does make a huge video file. You can choose to capture at lower bit rates, but the quality is horrendous.
