lighting zapped out pc

is there any chance in hell, to get some pictures or music off it?

the thing won't power up, when the lighting hit and knocked it out.

just wondering, because I don't know anything much about computers and
a couple of people said they think things could be retrieved off of it.

If you have another PC you might try removing the hard drive from the "zapped" one and installing it in the other, w/ correct jumper settings ie. as slave, and try to retrieve any info by going into My Computer and right clicking on the drive then the corresponding folders. If the lightning didn't damage the HDD that should work.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

make sure you keep an eye on other stuff. Lightning hit our tree then our house within a 2 month period. The first hit did nothing, but the second time we lost our complete home theater system, oven, dishwasher, garage opener, bathroom fan and light, tv's, even our phone lines had no power to the jacks. Some things were not affected. Our computers(1 desktop and 3 laptops) were fine. It was very weird how some things were zapped while others are just fine.

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.
