Anybody here work on laptops?

i have a hewlitt packard zd7000 series laptop (widescreen) that is giving me some trouble. first, the charger got to a point where it wouldn't connect well unless you held it in a certain spot, so i bought a new charger. i plugged this charger in, and it worked fine for a bit, but now when you plug the charger in, the light on the charger blinks and won't charge the battery. i plugged this charger into another laptop, and it seems to work fine, so i'm pretty sure that it's the power supply on the hp laptop or something like that. maybe the previous charger caused an issue with it when it was having problems...anyway, i need this thing fixed fairly quickly if possible, and i'd rather not take it to fry's.

thanks,

brad

you might just be fucked.

most like due to the fact that the receiver inside of the laptop for the power is disloged, which means motherboard replacement which means fucked out of a lot of money.

but i could be something else.

edit: or you could see if you could have it soldered back in place.

well, it was working okay for a bit...and i can still turn it on with just the battery, and everything is fine, but it doesn't seem to be charging the battery as the battery reads very low.

Shoot me a PM and maybe I can take a look at it sometime. IF its only a broken solder connection (pretty common on laptops) it shouldn't be too difficult to repair...I've fixed a few.

my AC jack went out on my compaq/HP. Instead of having to get that fixed I just got a HP all ine one media cable xc1000. It plugs into the your docking station port.

This cable is the least expensive solutions for:

* Presario R3000 power problem
* Pavilion zd7000 power problem
* Pavilion zx5000 power problem
* Pavilion zv5000 power problem

EDIT: I got it cheaper online. was like 60 bucks.

Is it not under warranty? I would ship it in. It took about 4 days to get mine back and they replaced the drive and everything. (made ghost clone)

i don't think that there's any warranty left. the laptop was originally purchased 6/04 but has had this issue for the past year or so, so i just put it up and got another computer for the wife...and i was going to fix it and use it myself. it's one of those widescreen laptops, and the wife wanted a smaller tablet notebook. anyway, i decided to go ahead and buy the charger for it, and here i am. i don't want to ship it to hp just to find out that it's not under warranty, and they would probably want to charge me a fortune to fix it. it's a really nice computer, though, so i'd like to get it fixed as opposed to just buying another. i have the receipt, and it was just under $3k when it was purchased...of course that included a 3yr warranty that was up about 4 months ago.
