SD card issue

new laptop won't recognize a SD card

Tried the card in 3 other machines with XP and it's fine. Try it in a new Gateway with Vista and the drive isn't even displayed as being there. Remove it, and it shows up for a split second and disappears.

Any ideas?

Good possibility, I imagine it was fomatted FAT32 in XP, but don't know for sure. Assuming Vista uses a different file system, how can I reformat it if it doesn't even recognize it's in there?

that's strange. we pop sd cards in and out of computers to show customers stuff all day at work on vista machines.

in one week though, thank god, I don't have to sell computers with that god awful OS anymore.

Vista uses the same antiquated file system as XP, 2000, NT4, etc...

Check your event log and see if it gives you any specifics.

type eventvwr in start -> run, and look at the log files when you put the SD card in.
