anyone on here repair PS2's?

I have the famous disc read error. I am poor and cannot buy another one. I have done everything I can find. It is time for outside help. I do not think a tutorial will help at this point. I need a repairman! I do have some cash, but cannot afford the guys who advertise their services either.

i was told it's an easy fix. it supposed to be some kinda rubber bands that somehow get shitty on the part that moves the lens around. you know, that lil eye thing you can see when you open the lid. wait do you have a new or an old one? if you have the older larger one you can take it to eb games or game stop (or some kinda place like that) and they will send it off or fix it or something like that (been well over a year scince i talked to the guy about it) for $40.00. no too bad.. but you can prolly get a used newer smaller version with a warranty and no bugs like the big one for not to much more.

try putting the PS2 on its side so its standing up and down, not side to side.

yeah, found that info online a couple of years back. It has worked well on all PS2's that I have encountered till now. Mine does not seem to be responding to that, but thanks for trying. Remember it quit right in the middle of gameplay and got the disk read error.
Still looking for a repairman.
