DVD burner

I installed a dvd burner my dad gave me and it didnt work, so I restarted my computer and it worked fine, then the next time I turned my computer on it didnt work again. Its pretty much a crap shoot, sometimes I can restart and get it to work

By not working I mean the computer doesnt even register it a a drive, but the power on it is working and the cables in the back are all hooked up??

It worked just fine on my dads computer 2 weeks ago when he gave it to me

any help would be appreciated

Did you install the correct and most recent drivers for it?

Are you on an XP or Vista machine?

sounds like a driver issue.

go to the manufacturers site and download the device drivers for that particular model.
