cant connect to the internet through a wireless router?Help?

Im trying to setup someones laptop and I cant get it to connect to the internet. When I open up the wireless network connections I can see and connect to the wireless network. When I try to open up IE I get the "Internet explorer cannot display th web page" like its not connected. I dont have the other connection like on my other computers where it says "sw bell" and asks for a username and password. The laptop has Windows Vistas on it and I cant find alot of the stuff I need. Any help?

make sure that you can ping the router and the gateway.... also try pinging an IP like 4.2.2.1 could possibly be an issue with the DNS of the box or router.
