Question Couple of Mac questions.

I just picked up a Mac Mini, so far it's not too bad - i like the fact it has the DVI standard on it.

Is there anything free that you can use to view/use Microsoft Office stuff? I'd be okay with view only if it were free.

2, how do I remove "Safari" off of the Dock? I already downloaded firefox (using now) and it's working fine, I just want to remove safari from it.

Thanks,

Grant

Check out NeoOffice: http://www.neooffice.org/

It's based off OpenOffice, and should be able to handle MS Office documents (only problem you may run into is if the documents have macro's)

To remove Safari from the dock, just Right Click on the Safari icon, and choose "Remove from Dock" If you ever want it back, just drag it from your Applications folder back onto the dock and you're golden.

Congrats on the new Mini btw

Well, I did the right click on it to remove it, but it's staying there regardless. I like it pretty well, but it's definitely going to take some getting used to. I'm not using a mac keyboard/mouse - is it really worth the extra cash to use theirs? My wireless microsoft keyboard/mouse work OK with it right now.

Weird that it didn't remove it. Mine poofed without a problem.

I'd say the keyboard/mouse purchase isn't worth it, if what you've got is working. I'm thinking about getting one of their bluetooth ones, or a 3rd party bluetooth one (provided it has 1 or 2 USB ports on it), just to free up a USB port on the back of my iMac. Then again, it's cheaper to just get a hub.

I'm a fan of ergonomic keyboards (MS Natrual, Logitech Comfort, etc), so I'm not really liking the pack-in Apple keyboard. That's not to say it's a bad keyboard, I just don't like any keyboards with that wrist cramping layout.
