Possible Video Card Issues?

Here's the deal: My computer started turning itself 1-2 minutes after being started up... and I thought it was my video card(Nvidia 6600gt) because the windows system error report said it had something to do with it.... (yes I know it doesnt make sense, but at the time it did ) So I went and downloaded the latest driver for my card, and installed it...

Well now I cant get anything to come on my monitor when the machine is on, just acts as if the computer wasn't connected at all.

Is there any way to get my computer back to where it was before I installed the new driver? Or just back to the original settings (video output from motherboard?).

Thanks guys, I cant afford to take it to Best Buy... ($200 minimum charge )

Reboot the computer, when the computer is about to start loading windows right after the POST (Pre-On Start up Test), hit F8 key. Select last known good configuration.

There is nothing coming on my monitor for me to know when to hit f8. Monitor acts as if there is no input whatsoever.

No, My monitor does not receive any input whatsoever... Just stays in "standby" as if I had it turned on but not connected to a functioning computer.

I believe it has to do with me installing a new version of my graphic card driver without first uninstalling the old one

You should still see the bios screen.

Can you rule out your monitor, by plugging it in to another computer?

I don't know how a driver can kill a video card. If you tried to FLASH program the card, I could see it. You could try to reseat the video card.

Yes, I thought it could have been the monitor so I hooked it up to my moms PC, and it works fine. I have also reseated the card several times with no success. I have also tried removing the card and running the system off of onboard graphics, which gave the same results....

Getting pretty frustrated here as I spent a few hours the night before all these problems started playing world of warcraft with absolutely no problems... fired it up the next morning and all this starts happening ><

Did you have to change the BIOS or a hardware jumper switch for the new graphics card? If you changed the BIOS, reset it, by removing the battery for a second or changing the jumper.

Honestly I can't remember exactly what I had to do when I installed it (was almost 3 years ago )

I will try resetting the bios and post up the results.

Well I tried resetting the bios by removing the battery... still nothing...

Any other suggestions before I go at it with my baseball bat?
