I need a licensed OS

I'm thinking about getting the Vista OS but I don't actually own a licensed
windows OS currently. So I'd have to get a FULL version(not an upgrade version).
Vista is pretty expensive.

What's the best way to get a licensed Vista OS?

Someone mentioned to me that I could buy a harddrive and I can get an OEM
full version of Vista for a cheaper price. Is that right?
Can I get a OEM versoin of vista Ultimate?

I believe you can buy any part and get an OEM copy of any OS.

I have bought a audio cable from cd to soundcard (two fifty) and got xp pro for like 70$

The upgrade disk can be used as a full install. This is illegal as part of the EULA states that you MUST have a licensed copy of XP or 2000 but the setup program does not check for them. I suggest you find a REALLY cheap copy of 2000 buy that and the Vista upgrade disk if you want to be legal, a note is you can't NOT use that 2000 install on another machine and stay within your EULA.

WTF? Gawd I feel like an idiot not knowing more about this... - can't say I've paid fully price for an OS, but I would pay OEM prices to be fair....probably. Where is the OEM stuff? Do you just go grab some hardware and the OEM stuff?

Thanks for any help...

Take care,

My '03 Sold.
