27 on my computer running all my stuff, 24 on my other computer that is just for storage/ripping video.

After looking at the list I could still kill a few startup items, but with 2gb of memory each it isn't to bad...

Thanks for the info but that's a lot of stuff to go through and looks like more trouble than I'm willing to put up w/. I would much rather someone w/ experience do it than me taking the chance of messing up my puter.

43 here on xp with 1gb ram.

Thats with some server daemons, anydvd, av, vmware services, etc.

Ok, here is what I do to cut a lot of shit from my processes.

1st: Click on Start --> Run



2nd:
Type in msconfig into the little text box and hit enter.



3rd: Make sure your start up select is checked for Normal Start up.



4th:
Click on Services tab and then on the bottom check the little box that says, "Hide All Microsoft Services." After that, you can uncheck unwanted bullshit you have on there.



5th:
Click on the Startup tab and uncheck all the bullshit you don't want to run when your computer is 1st turned on. The more off the better.
