if you get to know them perhaps they will give you the key code and you can just share the bill etc. My old neighbor gave me his and didnt charge a thing, his work paid for it.

If it is an unsecured network, you should be able to connect without any problems. If he's running it secured, you'd need his key/password to use it.

But keep in mind, even it's unsecured, people have been successfully prosecuted for unauthorized access.

Rightfully so. Although, I think some of the burden SHOULD fall on the owner. If someone HACKs a network, prosecution is legit IMO. If you have it wide open, I can think of 1 or 2 reasons why I'd be using it. "Gee judge, I did not know I was connected to that network." Or "I thought it was free public Internet."....

Dunno if those would fly, and I doubt they fly with people who have good IT qualifications...but still.

This is for another thread though...just drank a bunch of cold coffee and am in OD.

Not necessarily. I had mine unsecured, but only certain MAC addresses would be allowed access to use it. People see an unsecured network and think, cool! but then can't do shit...

They've done studies you know.... 60% of the time, it works every time

Just ask your neighbor to take his firewall down so you can download some porn.

The thing thats sucks about being the cool kid with the fast car was discovering I'm not a kid anymore, never was cool, and my car is slow.
