HTPC? Any recommendations?

Well looking to upgrade to a newer PC at home. Currently have an old 1ghz Dell with 512 MB of RAM that I use for browsing the web, downloading shows, and playing DVD's... unfortunately it's just no cutting it, and its struggling to play anything higher than 720p (1080p content will not play at all).

I'm interested in buying and HTPC and hooking it up to my 32" LCD, and found a pretty good guide on http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=710828

Right now the system would cost $800+ without the HD DVD drive or BluRay drive (still undecided which way to go, but leaning toward HD DVD)... wondering if any of you would recommend something already built for similar money.

Also, I have heard of some people using the XBox 360 HD DVD drives on their computers, anyone have links to that?

Kenny, I'm surprised in your line of work that you don't have a better system.

Actually my 3 year old son has a better system than I do (2.8 ghz Pentium 4). It's just that I have so much stuff on my old system, that thinking about moving it all off, and starting from scratch is scary.

I'm remodeling my house, and setting up a dedicated home office/entertainment room, and really need to look into getting a better HTPC. Will probably keep the old one for plain old web browsing, but playing anything with decent quality is a chore on it.
