have you made any changes lately?

added any hardware or new software?

it sounds like bad or mismatched ram or a bad video card or corrupt video card drivers.

or maybe even a failing power supply.

if you have windows xp try rolling back to an earier restore point.

pick a system checkpoint when you know the system was working normally.

Get your data off while you can and rebuild that bitch. I'll help you out with that. Just have to find the time to get out there. No fee, just feed me beer.

something easy you can do in the meantime to determine whether you are having a hardware or software problem.

try and boot into safe mode and see if it stays running.

if you don't kick out errors or freeze in safe mode then it is likely a software issue.

if it crashes in safe mode then you have a hardware issue.

no worries if you have to rebuild. just save the old hard drive and plug it into the new machine

If it fails in safe mode...it could be bad ram...pull a stick out and c what happens then pull the other stick and replace it with this one...be sure to always have a stick closest to the cpu. Pull the other one.
