Xbox online: Can this work?

My son used to connect his Xbox to our DSL router using a Cat 5 cable. We now have a wireless DSL router and it sits on top of the cabinets in the kitchen. Running a Cat5 cable from the living room to the kitchen is just not practical. Tell me if this is possible.

1. Bring his laptop into the living room. His laptop connects to the Internet via the wireless NIC.
2. Enable some sort of Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop.
3. Connect the Xbox to the laptop via Cat5 cable.

Will that work?

or you could just get a wireless adapter for the xbox.

but yeah, if you want some convoluted way of doing it, you can setup ICS on the laptop or a bridge network. You'll need a crossover cable to connect the xbox to the laptop more than likely.

We would have to buy a wireless adapter for the Xbox. If we can make the laptop work, there will be nothing to buy.

True, but you're shortening the lifespan of that laptop by a great margin if leave it running constantly, leave the lcd panel down why the computer is running will also shorten the life span of the lcd. It's not worth the headache especially when you can buy devices that will do it for you for under $30.

Under $30? Where? The ones I saw were like $80.
