Is there some sort of freeware database I can put on a website that will allow people to add an entry to a database, and the admin can accept/reject, and other users can browse and search the database? Kind of like www.speedtrap.org, where you can browse for speedtraps in your country::state::city and you can post new speedtraps as well.
So fill out a form, submit, email sent to admin, admin approves, and then it is searchable by all users?
If so there are snippets of code to help you accomplish this but really its a custom web application your after. What your asking for is not hard but expect to pay around 3-5k, if you have developer do it for you.
Ohh freeware db = MySQL, but you will still need to code the inserts and such.
I'm hoping to come across some freeware like phpBB the message board software. With webhosting already set up, I can install phpBB and have a message board fully operational in 5 minutes. But in this case, I would like some type of database not a message board. I already have the webhosting but Dreamhost doesn't offer any free database software. They have phpBB, photo galleries, blogs, etc.
Hmm I checked out their offerings and it appears they are a CGI only hoster. That kind of knocks me out. I am a MS guy. I bet Abecx would know. Your hosting service includes MySQL dbs and allows CGI. Depending on what your actually trying to do it really sounds like your going to have to write your application.
