Exclamation AVG Free users inside

About two months or so ago AVG released some kind of on-line update that made two of my machines very unstable. One would consistently blue screen soon after signon, and the other one would reboot during heavy disk activity, such as running an adaware scan.

There is a new version available (built 10/17) that seems to fix these stability issues if you are experiencing them. The online update will not download it; you must uninstall and download the latest version from free.grisoft.com and install it.

From what I read, it will still be free...just with 7.5 they are going to a new technology so 7.1 will be discontinued and you will no longer get updates for it. There is still going to be a free 7.5 version, however.

I had this problem on my laptop

It kept blue screening when avg loaded up.

I removed it and reinstalled it and it works perfect now.

From: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

"GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. This new 7.5 version with improved performance and user interface is available. Users that are using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option fulfilling their needs. AVG Free 7.1 version will be discontinued on 15th of Jan 2007."

Still free, just if you want to continue updates, you need to upgrade to 7.5.
