Disabling write capability to USB and CD-ROMs...

It's work related.

I need to get CD-ROMs and USB ports the ability to read CD data and USB input devices but restrict the ability to write to thumb drives and CD-Rs.

Either group policy or machine-specific will be okay.

WinXP will override any BIOS settings for USB...

TIA
Danny

Disable writing to USB Drives

regedit
HLKM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
Create new key and name it "StorageDevicePolicies"
Create a new DWORD and name it WriteProtect
Give it a value of 1

Must be SP2 XP for this to work.

ADM file for GPO can be found here.
