I don't work for free. However, whip out your disks and give it a shot. That way you're not stuck looking for help. Reloading an OS is a cake walk, especially after you've done it 2-3 times.

Just get a good inventory of all your hardware, reload OS, make sure the drivers are cool...run windows update a bagillion times until it is all good. Then start throwing on your other software.

Do you have "restore" discs? If so, you can format it yourself and learn how to do it.

What type of system is it?

Wow. Seriously, this stuff is not hard. However, I can't break it down any better.

One of those disks should be a restore disk - but if you're not familiar with drivers, windows update and basic PC tech, maybe you really do need to pay for someone to do this for you.

Ashame, once you do it - it'll be like changing the oil on your car. Only less messy.

Look at the sticky in this section. There are 2 or 3 people saying they will do this sort of thing.

Take care,

I agree with Ceyko for once.

If you have the restore disks I'd start there.

I also do that kind of stuff but not for free either.

I'm up in McKinney.

I also work for one of the AV vendors.

I was a lot like you the first time I rebuilt a machine when I was in the military. Took me a couple of weeks to get it right. However, after that it did not take long at all. These days they make it a lot easier. geeksquad gets paid 130-250 dollars to do work that really is not hard. It is intimidating if you've never done it before, but once you've done it - you realize it is not that bad at all.

Anyway, can you list of what the 18 disks are labeled? Sometimes they are not labeled the same.

stang2be, you agree with me for once? hmmm...guess you're right for once.

Drop it off to me in the morning, I wil have it back to you by lunch...
Will reload OS with Office XP Pro for $50. If you have apps or data that I need to try and save will cost a little more, but not anywhere near what Best Buy would charge..
