Play as Horde, if you want "do" stuff in end game raids don't roll a shaman/hunter/priest, I'd roll a mage/rogue(undead)/warrior(tauren). In that order, just my opinion. But i'm sure some of the verterens will chime in

lol... I will say that you probally won't stick to your first class you pick so get something that you think you will enjoy and have fun. You can always start a new character.

Pick horde or alliance, then chose what class you want since not every race can be the same class.

Some advice I've picked up playing and, toons I've played

Warriors - are usually very "gear" dependant late game, that can be frustrating if you don't raid much.

Rogues - are fun especailly early, but end game they're a dime a dozen and if you want to raid there is alot of comptetion.

Priest - Are always in demand end game, but you better enjoy it. In raids you either the hero or a failure (or atleast a lot of people blame the healers when they wipe )

End game PVP rooms are a caster free for all (hunters, warlocks, shadow priest, mages, ect.) not that melee toons can't do some serious damage

Horde side - undead are really popular because will of forsaken.
Alliance side - Seems majority play night elf (cause they do flips when you jump )

also if you have any friends playing, then get on the same server because thats the point of the game. and have fun, because it is a game after all...

Very well put.

My advice to everyone that is starting out: Play what is fun for you. And like he said, if you have any friends that already play that is a major bonus(if they are good enough friends they will hook you up with money/gear). If you have no one to play with send me a tell in game. I spend the majority of my time on a PvE server named Kargath(player name = Calypso), and a portion of my time on a PvP server named Garithos(player name = Narayana). oh yea, both are alliance

Good luck!

-Taylor

Thanks for the info everyone. I installed last night and it took a while to get the update patch installed. I'll probably start playing this weekend. I don't know anyone thatís playing but the plan is to go in and then sucker some of my friends into playing. Some absolutely refuse as they claim installing that game is like taking a hit of crack LOL.

It may be a while before Iím on the PvP servers Taylor but when I do get there Iíll look you up.
Thanks Again

Don't be afraid of the PvP servers, If you ever get into PvP your stuck with mainly BG's on a PvE server. I regret rolling on a PvE server and may reroll in the future (doubtful) on a PvP server.

Having 60s on both PVP and PVE servers, I agree. PVP servers are 10x more fun to lvl up in. Then again, for a newbie, it can be frustrating.

Thats' exactly why I rolled a PvE server first hand, but I ended up sticking with it.
One thing I noticed though, is that PvE servers are generally better geared and have better progression than PvE servers..

I actually found out a way to play for free, yes free. I can't tell anyone because I'm sure it would spread like wildfire and they'd figure out how to fix it.

You talking about the "recruit a friend and get free game time" and recruit yourself, play for free, then "recruit" yourself again?

Gnomes piss me off too. I don't play much PvP, but when I do those little bastards are small and hard to target.

I roll a NE druid, he was PAIN to level..it was terrible. But now I play the end game instances and it is cake to get a group. Very multi-useful in instances, and just about worthless in pvp. I can't kill anyone in pvp I just don't have the skill with the druid I guess. I also roll a human warlock (19 twink) and I use him for my pvp killing.

Yeah, you make a good point. Hell, when I only played SP games I'd blow 150 a month on those. I can maintain several WoW accounts for a fraction of that price.

Take care,

Take care,
sometimes these games can save you money. i know when i was addicted to counterstrike (no monthly fee), i wouldnt feel like i had to go out every night of the week. whether that meant going to a friends house, movies, bar, shopping for something i didnt need... that shit kept me from pissing away money on gas, food, beer, getting arrested. i mean id still go out fridays and weekends but when i got off work on a tuesday, id be fine wasting 3 hours playing CS.

I ended up rolling an undead rogue. I'm playing on Undermine as ACrowley. Iím up to level 12. I chose to be an engineer. So far Iím loving this game.

Iíll have to say itís an addictive game. I get stuck because Iíll go farm some monsters and then Iíll go get new skills from a trainer then Iíll used the skills to make something then Iíll want to try out what I made so I end up farming monsters again.

If you want to win PVP battles be a horde. I've a 39 Alliance gnome warrior and there is no team work.

I'd wait till the blood elves launch and be one of them.

Rogues are neat characters. It is my first one too, only lvl 35 since I started a warrior with my wife's priest. Still, neat one to chose. Only one that can pick locks and the vanish ability later on is a sweet deal.

I chose mining/engineering for my rogue to. Think I'm going to ditch engineering though, I can't stand it.

hehe, I can see it now with BC. A million lvl 1 blood elves or whatever running around.

Yeah, if you get the expansion. You can have 10 characters per account.

Once you get settled, I recommend looking into auctioneer. I just fiddle with it right now and get about 20-30 gold per week from it. Some people will in 10-20 times that amount and it is legal.

You could also glide a character, but that's not so legal.

I've been tempted, just for an account to farm gold for my other characters. So far I've stayed in the realm of good ethics. The auction house brings in decent gold so I can't complain too much.

I'd rather bot a character then pay 300+ for a decent sum of gold. To bot a character would cost a lot less then buying gold and would be a continuous source of gold....assuming you don't get that account banned.

I like the minor challenge of getting gold it what is considered WoW ethical....although, if you pay 300+ USD for 2K gold...I don't consider that unethical either....really.

Botting is LAME! Why even pay for a game that you have another program running.... Its not hard to level a character to 60, ive been playing since launch and i have 4 level 60 characters, an Undead Shadow Priest as my main (on stonemaul)

Don't give in and use the bot, its lame and ruins the game. There are people afk botting in Alterac valley all the time and it really pisses me off that i had to grind all that rep, and they just go afk the whole time and Blizzard dont hardly do crap about it.

Eh, *I* have not yet. If I did, it would be with a 3rd account, prepaid w/false information. I could careless about it being lvl 60 - I'd just want it for the gold income.

Fairly unimportant for me, since I am a tight wad with moola and am brining in decent gold with auctioneer.

I'm only a level 12 so no instances yet. I have joined some groups while we happened to be fighting the same areas. That was cool. I feel like a junk man sometimes. I collect a bunch of vender trash just to go sell it for a few silver.

That's what the wife and I did with a lvl 60. I'd recommend avoiding auto follow or use a rogue so you can stealth. Otherwise, you'll quickly aggro the mobs and they'll go straight for your low lvl alt.

well i have a 60 pally, and a like 46 rogue...
I've been meaning to roll a warrior or mage....Or maybe even a lock..hell i don't know just something.. this would make it easy, and i'd essentially only have to pay for one account at a time.

I've never played a paladin, can they res? My main concern would be the mobs attacking your low level and killing it all the time...that would be PITA having to get it res'ed all the time.

Speaking of mobs tell me if this is bad etiquette. I find as a low level player I can only hit some places (Scarlet Watchtower ect) if there are already several players in the area. Most of the time they invite me to join a group. I have to wonder though if some of the players think Iím crashing their party.

Yeah, pretty much first come - first serve IMO. Asking you into a group is the easy way to make sure everyone gets what they need...share out a few quests...etc

I have a 19 lock.. the void doesn't hold aggro that well. He just alot of damage over time and it isn't long before the monster leaves the void and comes after me. Kind of a pain but that's how it works for the clothies lol
