What the hell is wrong?

At random times, my computer will start opening Internet Explorer windows back to back. It'll open like 60, then stop. It's at random times too. Always when I'm on the internet, but not every time I'm on the internet.

I wouldn't be surprised if my computer is flooded with viruses, it is four years old w/ no protection. It was a cheap computer I bought in 02' for school purposes so I never really spent much on it. This shit is just annoying though.

Sounds like a virus... probably some sort of pop-under one. I would get adaware, spybot and the microsoft tools. And also make sure you have a pop-up blocker. Oh.. .you might want to make sure to put some anti-virus software on there also!

On a 4 y/o computer, I'd would not load too much crap. I'd reload the OS, install all the apps you like and whatever, then image it. That way, in the future you can just reimage the beast.

Otherwise, you can load all the usual crap - however, performance will suffer. ALSO, by now - who knows what all is going on. Regardless of which solution you go with, I'd reload the OS.

My '03 Sold.

That is actually a great idea. The only better idea is to buy a new machine.
