computer help...

ok this is driving me so damn crazy i have no clue what the hell it is.. plz for the love of god help...

ok i have everyhting hooked up right and i just put in a new hard drive... when it boots up i go to bios and tell it to boot off the cd rom and i have my windows disk and as soon as i hit a key to boot up to reformat it just shuts down... ive had it go to the blue screen to get started and it shuts down havent gotten farther then that, i just had frys test my ram cpu and mother board... any suggestions???

Have you used this CD before? ie: you know that it works?

If all else fails, make a 2k, or 98 boot disk, fdisk the new drive (if it needs it) , then format that partition if needed. Old School!

i used the disk on my labtop afew days ago and it worked fine... amin i got the comp to boot up and it got about 20 sec.s into the boot up to reformat and right before it got to the partion screen in shut down... i went through and disabled my temp. shutdown and its not even getting to the screen anymore...

i have 2 other power suppleys ill try them and and see thx for the suggestions

was it working fine before? are you everything is plugged back in good?

it doesnt sound like hardware. I would try the 98/2000 boot disk approach if you can get your hands on one.

i got it figured out i cant beleive i didnt think of it before... i was monitering my temp and noticed it was 185f which is about 15 degrees above the shut down in the bios, so i checked my processer and heatsink to see how much artic silver i had on them and it had worn off, so i put some more back on there and working like a champ thx guys for the quick responses
