Svideo interface on a tv won't support enough lines of resolution to give you a picture worth looking at. Infact, the fact alone that all you have is an svideo port immediatley says that tv isn't a canidate for PC hookup.

You need a moder HD set, w/ 15 pin, DVI, HDMI, etc hookup that supports ~1k lines of resolution.

I have a 62" Samsung DLP, hooked up via 15 pin to a PC, looks great, easy to read text, its like a huge computer monitor. My friends trip out when the see it in action, especially w/ games.

Forget about doing TV + PC unless you have a fairly decent/modern TV.

You could get by watching movies via laptop, but lines and fine detail will suffer quite a bit. Forget about fine text, word processing, etc. unless you like to squint

Some TV's come w/ DVI and 15 hookup nowadays, and those connections are geared toward using as a computer monitor. HDMI seems to be the newest type I'm seeing on TV's. DVI, 15pin, and HDMI are all interfaces typically used to hookup a HD sat receiver or other HD equipment.

big images, yeah I'd say thats doable, but anything text or fine detail you can forget about it. I've grown used to my big DLP w/ the 15pin so my bias is pretty heavy against anything buy DVI/15pin
