i need some help

i have an HP computer. AMD Athalon 1.4bg processor, 256 mb ram and a 40gb HD. i added a 128mb Nvidia Geforce video card. when playing games, it is not smooth. acts like i am still running the 16mb onboard video. i went into CMOS and turned off the ram usage for the on board video. i am wondering if it is still trying to access it. is there a way to check that, or turn it off?

really a video card on that system isn't going to make the game stop chunking. All it will do is make prettier textures, and more chunking

Time for more memory, and possibly a whole new upgrade. a 1.4 isn't going to run half the games coming out now at a decent speed

Power supply.

When I upgraded to a 6600GT my 350W wasnt enough to power it properly and it didnt run run till I got a 500W. Also make sure if it needs a dedicated power connection that you have it connected.

I think that is just for AGP cards though.

What games are you trying to play exactly?

IF 2nd desktop stuff is fine and just 3d is slow that could be lack of power. Mine would work fine 2d but 3d ran like shit.
